3 EASY METHODS TO COOK RED RICE

Red rice has more antioxidants. Anthocyanin compounds in addition to their role as a source of color pigment in rice intact with germ, bran, and endosperm layers. Hence Red Rice takes significantly longer cooking time than white rice.

Everyone has this thought that cooking red rice is really tough. Here are some techniques to make cooking organic red rice is much easier.


3 EAST METHODS OF HOW TO COOK RED RICE.

  • Pressure-Cooking method

  • Open-pot Cooking method

  • Closed-pot Cooking method


1. Pressure-cooking method


Red parboiled rice (Unpolished)

NO OF SERVES COOKING TIME

4 35 min

1. Take one cup of rice and soak for overnight or at least 4 to 6 hours in hot water will help to reduce cooking time.

2. Add 1: 4 glasses of water (4 cups of water for 1 cup of rice)

3. Close the lid of the cooker and place the whistle.

4. Let the stove in medium flame till 1 or 2 whistles to go.

5. Now simmer the flame to low until 5 more whistles to go

6. It may take 6 to 7 whistles to get the rice cooked well. (Whistle count may slightly differ depends upon the cooker)

7. Switch off the stove. Wait till the pressure settles down completely. (It may take 7 to 10 minutes )

8. Well done rice will be ready for serving.

2. Open-pot Cooking method


Red parboiled rice (Semi-polished)

NO OF SERVES COOKING TIME

4 30 min

1. Take one cup of rice and soak for at least 1 to 2 hours

Note: (Soaking time for both semi-polished and unpolished rice is different. See the soaking time for unpolished rice mentioned above)

2. Take the pot and measure the water that can be two inches above the rice.

3. First, bring the water in to boil.

4. Keep the flame in medium and add the rice later.

5. Wait till the rice is half done and reduce the flame to low and let the rice cooked

6. Switch off the stove once the rice is well done and drain the excess water.

(Note: This method is not really recommended for normal healthy people other than who has some medical conditions as it removes the carbohydrates contained in red rice. since we produce the rice organically, without any harmful chemical pesticides, preservatives and fertilizers, Draining rice water remove all the goodness of revitalizers).


7. Hence the drained rice water can be consumed with a pinch of salt or jaggery.


Now the fluffy cooked red rice is ready to serve.


3. Closed-Pot Cooking method


Red parboiled rice (Semi-polished)

NO OF SERVES COOKING TIME

4 35 min

1. Take one cup of rice and soak for
at least 1 to 2 hours.

Note: (Soaking time for both

semi-polished and unpolished rice is different. See the soaking time for unpolished rice mentioned above)

2. Take the pot and measure the water that can be two inches above the rice.

3. First, bring the water in to boil.

4. Keep the flame in medium and add the rice later.

5. Wait till the rice is 90% done and reduce the flame to low. (Keeping the flame high in this particular time may let the rice burn faster)

6. Cover the pot with a tight fitter lid and let it stay for 5 to 7 minutes

7. Let the rice cooked in low flame and drain the water completely.

8. Switch off the stove as soon as the rice is well done and transfer it into another bowl.


Now the fluffy and non-sticky cooked red rice is ready to serve even without draining the excess water.
